SPH's New Media top latest Hitwise Rankings

Singapore, 2 March 2009 - Several websites of Singapore Press Holdings Ltd ("SPH") earned top spots in Hitwise Rankings in the 4th quarter of 2008 (from October to December 2008).

Asiaone’s is number one in Hitwise’s Health and Medical category while Asiaone’s rules the Food and Beverage (Lifestyle and Reference) category again, after topping the same category in the 3rd quarter. captures the largest market share in this category, which covers food and wine appreciation, gourmet and epicurean lifestyle, entertaining and cooking. It has reigned as the number one food and beverage lifestyle site in Singapore since its launch last May. remains number one in the News and Media (Print) category, while continues as number one in the Shopping and Classifieds (Classified) category, both for the third consecutive quarter., a longstanding champion in the IT categories, tops three categories this time round. They are the Computers and Internet (Hardware, Computers & internet), Social Networking & Forums, and News and Media (IT Media) sections.

Speaking for AsiaOne, it’s editor, Adrian Tay, said, “In today’s wired world, readers can go anywhere online. Put up a site that’s not something they like and they won’t come back. So the no.1 ranking is really an indication of the team’s hard work in keeping readers’ attention. And having them come back for more is something we constantly work at."

In the radio business, SPH has an 80 per cent stake in SPH UnionWorks Pte Ltd, which operates entertainment stations Radio 100.3 FM in Mandarin and Radio 91.3 FM in English.

Outdoor Advertising
In addition, SPH has ventured into outdoor advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest outdoor motion display advertising network media company and a 35 per cent stake in TOM Outdoor Media Group, a leading outdoor advertising company in China.

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore’s main shopping belt. SPH’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, is also developing a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
