Singapore, 24 April 2009 – Readers of The New Paper will get "cash" when they buy a copy of the newspaper starting next Monday. Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) will be printing different denominations of The New Paper Dollars (TNP$) on the cover of the publication daily from 27 April to 5 July. There will be TNP$50, TNP$100, TNP$150 and TNP$500.

During the 10-week campaign, readers can collect these TNP$ and use them to bid for one or more items of their choice from an auction list. The New Paper Auction items will be classified into five series. The auction period for each series will run for two weeks.
Items on the auction list include electronic products such as camcorders, home theatre systems and LCD televisions from Audio
House, travel packages from Star Cruises, Apple products from EpiCentre, furniture from Courts, and even a motorcycle with accessories worth $16,000 from Derbi! Readers can refer to http://www.asiaone.com/tnpdollars for the full list of the auction items.
To participate in the auction, readers must send in a bid amount higher than that of the minimum stated for each respective item via SMS. The highest bidder for each product wins. Upon notification, winners must present sufficient and original copies of TNP$ before they can claim their prizes. Each SMS bid is chargeable at $0.20.
