Singapore, 6 May 2009 – She is only 8. But she has found a way to tell the world how great her mum is. Renee Wee did it by taking part in Rednano Mum’s The One, a Rednano Mother’s Day tribute. She describes her mum as “amicable” and a person with a “kind heart”. Organised by Rednano Mobile, the mobile touchpoint of homegrown local search and directory engine rednano.sg, Rednano Mum’s The One is complemented by a contest.
Since 9 April 2009, Rednano Mobile has provided a platform to encourage users to tell the world how much they love and appreciate their mothers this coming Mother’s Day through Rednano Mum’s The One which will also give their mothers a chance to win attractive prizes.
Through SMS voting, the top three mothers that garner the most number of votes stand to win a night’s stay at One-Bedroom Villa at Siloso Beach Resort, dining vouchers from Lawry’s The Prime Rib or a makeover/photography session at The Beautybox Studio, with a total value of prizes worth about S$1,800.
Voters will also automatically be entered into a lucky draw for a chance to win a night’s stay at The Glass Loft (Tree House) at Siloso Beach Resort worth S$500. Moreover, the first 100 SMS voters will also be entitled to special discounts on hotel rooms at Siloso Beach Resort and makeover / photography sessions at The Beautybox Studio.
Participants are required to log on to Rednano Mum’s The One website at www.rednano.sg/mumstheone, upload what they think is an interesting photograph of their mothers and submit a short description of their mothers based on one of the seven R.E.D.N.A.N.O. character traits that they think best describes their mothers.

All entries received will then be put up on Rednano Mum’s The One website. Thereafter, participants are encouraged to get their friends to vote for their mothers to win. In celebration of Mother’s Day, the public can also vote for their favourite ‘mother’ for her to win.
The oldest mother submitted is 78 years old. These are just some of the participants’ tributes to their mothers:
Edwin Tan, 23 – Original. There is nothing I would love to see you becoming of. Your love, care and the effort to put in to groom us is so rare and so pure. Every drop of sweat and tear you shed is for us. Your love for us is beyond any word I can use to describe. Thank you for being my mother and my friend as well.
Siew Sau Keng, 28 – Benevolence. Pure. Original. When I was younger, there was once when I was gravely ill. It was around midnight and we had no money to take cab, plus it was also raining heavily. You carried me all the way to the hospital. You scrimped and saved to provide the best education for me. Dear mommy, now it is time that I shower you with all the best of the best things in life. I love you.
Jane Lee, 29 – New Age Mom is an ardent fan of horror movies and keeps herself updated with the current affairs and entertainment news. Mother also enjoys chilling out with us at No.5 Emerald Hill cocktail bar. Your connection with us is simply unbreakable and the values you instill in us are irreplaceable.
Voting is to be done via SMS to 33333. Each vote costs S$0.30. Both submission of entries and SMS voting will cease by 31 May 2009.
SMS 33333, a mobile directory service, is just one of the three mobile services offered by Rednano Mobile. The other two mobile services are Rednano Locate, a location-based directory service and Rednano WAP at mobile.rednano.sg.
