Sphere Exhibits Gets into Kidz Business

Singapore, 29 May 2009 – Following the recent success of Licence2Play earlier this month, Sphere Exhibits, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), will be organising The Kidz Academy at Suntec Convention Hall 602, from 5 to 7 June.

The three-day event is a must-go for all parents and caregivers who want to research, try out and shop for the latest equipment, learning aids and enrichment courses to assist in the development of their children aged 0 - 12 years. It opens daily from 11am to 9pm and admission is free. The first 1,000 visitors each day will receive a goodie bag worth $20.

Covering key aspects of a child's growth and development from cognitive, social and emotional, speech & language, sports , there is something for everyone at The Kidz Academy.

At the event, parents and their children can pick up a new hobby or skill together. By doing so, parents can promote family bonding, while stretching their children’s abilities.

Parents can sign up for workshops conducted by education experts such as speakers from the Adam Khoo Learning Technologies, Mr Norman Tien, the mathematics consultant, and Ms Patricia Koh, an early development expert from Pat’s Schoolhouse, to help them better manage and understand the development of their child. Workshop topics include preparation for the PSLE examinations, inculcating good learning habits in children, and keeping children’s health in check.

The children can try out enrichment classes ranging from taekwondo, painting, pottery making, music, dance and even gym all under one roof in a weekend. Parents are also welcomed to join in some of the trial classes.

Visitors can also root for their favourite teams for various competitions as the participants race against time and challenge one another on academic subjects and general knowledge.

The organiser has also lined up many fun-filled programmes to entertain the visitors, ranging from magic shows, musical performances, demonstrations, skits and other stage activities, throughout the three days. Taoshu, the Warrior Boy, from the award-winning television series will also be making an appearance at The Kidz Academy. The lively and talented Mandarin educators from Julia Gabriel Centre for Learning will also present their new skit ‘Down in the Forest’ -- using music, songs, drama, and tongue twisters to interact with their audience.

Sphere’s executive director, Mr Chua Wee Phong, said, “The Kidz Academy is definitely an event not to be missed. It will offer parents one-stop convenience to source for activities that allow the entire family to participate together, as well as quality products and services for their kids’ holistic development.”

The Kidz Academy is a supporting partner of the National Family Celebrations 2009 (NFC’09). The co-chairman of the NFC’09 organising committee, Mrs Josephine Teo, will be Guest-of-Honour for The Kidz Academy’s opening ceremony on 5 June.
