Back clinches two gold and one silver at the 8th Asia Media Awards 2009

Singapore, 25 September 2009 – Singapore’s leading bilingual news and entertainment portal, turns two today and the joy is doubled with its wins at the 8th Asia Media Awards 2009. picked up a Gold and Silver respectively in two new categories added this year – Best in Cross Media Award (Cross Media Editorial Coverage) and Best in Cross Media Award (Cross Media Advertising).

The former is for a specially created microsite covering the 2007 Beijing Olympics ( while the latter is for a campaign with home-grown food brand, Bee Cheng Hiang in a photo contest to celebrate its 75th anniversary (

In the Best in Online Media Award (Newspaper Website) category, was awarded a Gold in recognition of its effort in complementing and supporting the various Chinese newspapers under Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH).

Organised by WAN-IFRA, the Awards aims to promote the highest publishing standards in Asia and Middle-East. A total of 472 entries were received this year.

Mr Chua Chim Kang, and Lianhe Wanbao Editor, said: "We are heartened by the recognition from WAN-IFRA, particularly the two Cross Media awards as is in a unique position to bridge the gap between new and traditional media platforms, providing high quality for both our users and advertisers."

Outdoor Advertising
In addition, SPH has ventured into outdoor advertising through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SPH MediaBoxOffice Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest outdoor motion display advertising network media company.

SPH owns and manages Paragon, the prime retail and office complex in the heart of Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping belt. SPH's wholly-owned subsidiary, Times Development Pte Ltd, is also developing a 43-storey upmarket residential condominium, Sky@eleven, at Thomson Road.
