Singapore, - The inaugural CATS Food Race will be held on , . Organised by Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) CATS Classified, the event will flag off at SPH News Centre at .
30 teams of four will be required to travel around Singapore to some eating places and perform a food-related task at each location, before completing the race at Singapore Expo Hall 4. The Food Race is held in conjunction with the CATS Classified Food Fest. Points will be awarded according to how fast each team completes each task. The team with the highest total number of points wins.
Some of the food-related tasks that teams have to perform are:
Game: DIY Popiah
Location: Good Chance Popiah, Blk 149 Silat Ave #01-58
Task: Each team will be given ingredients to make 2 popiahs,cut them up as neatly as possible, and eat the entire popiah.
Game: Tooth Pick Mee
Location: Kim’s Place Seafood, 43 Joo Chiat Place (Junction of Tembeling Rd)
Task: Each team will be given a plate of Hokkien mee and a pair of tooth picks to eat the noodles.
Game: The Long Slurp
Location: One Ocean, Blk 1002 Toa Payoh Industrial Park, #01-1407
Task: Each team has to drink as much soup as possible within the allocated time using a teaspoon attached to a long pole.
End point: Orange Squashed
Location: Singapore Expo Hall 4 (Asia Pacific Food Expo stage area)
Task: Each team has to squeeze out as much juice as possible from 5 oranges using a manual juicer within a given time. This segment carries the highest number of points.

CATS Food Race
The top three teams stand to win these prizes:
1st prize: $2,000 shopping vouchers
2nd prize: $1,000 shopping vouchers
3rd prize: $500 shopping vouchers
All participants will also receive an exclusive CATS golf umbrella worth $20 and food vouchers.
CAT Classified Food Fest Top 10 Restaurants
At the end of the Food Race, there will be an award presentation to recognise the Top 10 restaurants of the CATS Classified Food Fest. These restaurants were voted by members of the public during the CATS Classified Food Fest advertising promotion.
Food Fest Grand Draw
The winner of Food Fest’s Grand Draw will be picked and he/she will win a cash prize of $10,000. To participate in the draw, diners have to spend a minimum of $20 at any of the Food Fest 2103 participating restaurants.
