Singapore, April 26, 2010 – Shape Run 2010, organised by Shape, Singapore’s leading health and fitness magazine for women, will begin registration on this Friday, April 30.
The fifth edition of the race will offer a record 10,000 slots. This means 2,000 more women compared to last year will get to participate and enjoy the ever-popular event. Runners can sign up for the race online at www.shape.com.sg. Shape Run, Singapore’s first women-only running event, will be held on Sunday, July 25.
From April 30 - May 2, the early-bird registration fee is $45 for individual categories (5km and 10km) and $180 for the corporate category. Thereafter, the registration fee will be $55 for individual categories and $220 for the corporate category.
All participants will get a fabulous Runner’s Kit filled with running essentials and a limited-edition Shape Run Nike tee, all packed into an exclusive Shape gym bag. Race finishers will get a race certificate with their personal timing and a finisher’s bracelet after the run.
Individual runners who top up $10 on the race fee will receive a six-month subscription to Shape, which was recently named Health/Fitness Magazine of the Year 2010 by the Magazine Publishers Association of Singapore. The magazine is licensed by American Media Inc and published by SPH Magazines.
Shape runners, readers and the public are welcome to check out the latest health, beauty and fitness products and services at the exciting Shape Run carnival to be held two weeks before the race from July 9 - 11 at Marina Square Central Atrium Level 2. Shape runners will also be able to collect their race packs and number bibs at the carnival.
Shape Run 2010 is proudly presented by Japanese car maker Subaru and co-presented by Nike Running, with Kellogg’s as the main sponsor. Other sponsors include BIC Shaver, Biotherm, California Raisins, CitiSpa, H-TWO-O, Marigold Yoghurt, ParkwayHealth, True Fitness and Vitagen Collagen.
Says Jeanette Wang, Associate Editor, Shape: “It’s very encouraging to see how Shape Run has more than doubled in size since its inaugural race in 2006 with 2,500 runners – not just from an organiser’s perspective, but that from a Singapore woman who believes in and values sport. It shows that more women here are taking an interest in their fitness. Shape Run has always been a must-do race on my running calendar, because doing an all-women event is an entirely different and unique experience. Less jostling, more joy!”
Irene Tan, General Manager, Fashion & Beauty, SPH Magazines, says: “Last year, 8,000 slots were taken up under 42 hours, which is unprecedented. The runners’ strong demand affirms Shape Run as the quality run that women look forward to annually. To cater to popular demand, Shape Run 2010 has grown to 10,000 participants. We are expecting a good response once again this year.”
“Shape Run has become one of the most-awaited sporting events for many women here. We hope that it will grow into an internationally-recognised event that will attract participation amongst women in the region in the near future,” says Ms Hannah Tan, Regional Marketing Manager, Motor Image Enterprises Pte Ltd.
Mr. Glenn Heng, Marketing Manager, Nike Southeast Asia & Singapore says: “It is most heartening to see our partnership with Shape Run grow from strength to strength since its inception and we are very much committed to delivering another unforgettable experience for the participating ladies. More importantly, Nike hopes to inspire runners with our range of innovative products to enhance their personal race experience. We recognise that each runner is unique and beyond the race itself, it is vital to ensure a positive experience that will encourage them to pursue their love for the sport.”
