About the scholarship
The SPH Media Journalism Scholarship is open to all fields of study (except medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, architecture, or law) in both local and overseas universities.
Scholars will be given internship opportunities to gain exposure and experience in a rotation of jobs across the different parts of the organisation, working hand in hand with experienced journalists, editors and other mentors on projects that will foster quality and credible journalism in the digital era. Outstanding scholars will also be groomed for top leadership positions within the company.
We are offering full-term scholarships for recent A-Level, Diploma, International Baccalaureate (IB) or equivalent qualifications (e.g. NUS high school diploma) graduates and mid-term scholarships for current undergraduates.
Requirements
- Singapore Citizen or Singapore PR
- Excellent academic record
- Good CCA and/or NS records
- Interest in news and current affairs
- Enjoys creating engaging multimedia content
Benefits

- Internships from the second year of study
Service commitment
The actual bond period depends on the university enrolled in, the course of study, and the number of years sponsored.
- Local: 3 to 4 years
- Overseas: 3 to 6 years

The selection process involves interviews, online assessments, and an internship stint with SPH.

SPH Media and Temasek Foundation share an interest in building up a core group of talented journalists with knowledge of Singapore and the region.
We invite young people with an interest in pursuing journalism as a career to apply for a new scholarship that we are launching in 2023, with the aim of developing news media professionals and securing the future of credible journalism as a public good.
About the Scholarship
The SPH Media-Temasek Foundation Scholarship is open to Singaporean/ASEAN youths who are currently pursuing full-time undergraduate degrees related to journalism at either of the following institutions:
- Nanyang Technological University – Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information
- National University of Singapore – Department of Communications and New Media
Requirements
- Excellent academic record, including A-level results and be on track for
graduation with a GPA of 4.0 - Good CCA and/or NS record
- Interest in news and current affairs
- Enrolment in journalism and/or multimedia content creation modules

Service commitment
- 2-month internship with SPH Media newsrooms every year
- Post-graduation traineeship at SPH Media newsrooms for 1 year upon
completion of studies - Participation in Temasek Foundation Youth Alumni Network and its activities
