Over 200 movers and shakers celebrated the worthy awardees at the 32nd edition of Her World Women of the Year with a gala dinner and ceremony held on 13 October at the elegant JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. The awards are presented to inspirational women who break boundaries in their fields and who have made remarkable contributions to society.
This year, the event was organised with support from key advertisers in the luxury, beauty and tech sectors – namely The Hour Glass (Official Timepiece); Clé de Peau Beauté (Official Beauty); and Supporting Partner, Qualcomm – with exposure on-site and across the Her World multi-platform ecosystem.
Nanotechnology scientist Professor Jackie Yi-Ru Ying, who together with her team discovered a material that would autoregulate diabetic patients’ intake of insulin, is this year’s Her World Woman of the Year. Fintech visionary and founder of YouTrip, Caecilia Chu, is the Her World Young Woman Achiever.
Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu was the event’s Guest-of-Honour and stressed the importance of celebrating women’s achievements in the workplace.
In her opening speech, Her World editor-in-chief Elizabeth Lee shared the title’s new look after its revamp in October. The print book was launched with three cover stars: actor Janice Koh, comedian and host Preeti Nair, and singer Shye, with an exciting new editorial direction focusing on the content pillars of money, career and wellness.
She also touched on the completion of the inaugural Her World Mentorship Programme, which paired 11 mentees with eight accomplished women over six months.
A celebration worthy of the honourees
The event’s curated list of discerning guests were pampered with activations from official sponsors.


In a room filled with remarkable women, The Hour Glass showcased six fine timepieces from Hublot, Girard-Perregauz and Ulysse Nardin that were available for guests to try at their booth.

At the dinner, each table featured a specially crafted table flower centrepiece by Clé de Peau Beauté, who also provided a luxurious gift set to every guest as a gift. Qualcomm also presented guests with a memorable gift.
These were enjoyed by a glittering line-up of guests ranging from accomplished business leaders, industry veterans, style trendsetters, and celebrities. Familiar faces who have covered or graced the pages of the magazine including singer Iman Fandi, actresses Munah Bagharib and Xixi Lim,and entrepreneurs Cheryl Wee, Rachel Wee, Sabrina Tan and Velda Tan were also present. Other notable guests include lawyer Claudia Poon, GoodStuph founder Pat Law, national weightlifter Farhanna Farid, as well as lawyer, disability advocate and a former Nominated Member of Parliament Chia Yong Yong.
