The Business Times Corporate Golf League returns after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, allowing the movers and shakers in the corporate scene to tee up with other organisations for a series of friendly competition and networking across four legs in some of Singapore’s finest golf courses.

Together with presenting sponsor Singapore Pools, The Business Times brought back the 11th edition of the league — which hit the fairway for the first time in 2009 — with a bang.

Singapore Pools chief executive officer Lam Chee Weng said: “By bringing together people who care about the same cause, we believe that events such as the BT Corporate Golf League are useful platforms to spark conversations and ideas to advance common community goals.”

Markus Schuster, the managing director of Audi Singapore, which is both the Official Automotive partner, as well as the sponsor of the tournament’s hole-in-one prize of the Audi A6 2.0 TFSI said: “The annual league, presented by Singapore Pools, has always been an excellent networking platform that provides opportunities for people to forge stronger professional and personal relationships on the golf course.”

The Business Times editor Chen Huifen said: “It’s encouraging that we continue to receive strong support from the business community, in both sponsorship and participation."

Fun in the green

A networking night for participating teams on 2 Feb kicked off the tournament. Held at Singapore Pool Live Wire at China Square, the event gave participants an opportunity to network as well as understand the league’s programme, rules, and regulations.

The opening leg was held on 9 Feb in Sentosa Golf Course, where 100 golfers witnessed the unveiling of the majestic trophy. The teams were also introduced as the respective captains dropped golf balls into the cup. This was followed by the second and third legs held at Tanah Merah Country Club and Singapore Island Country Club on 3 Mar and 24 Mar respectively. Laguna National Golf Resort Club hosted the grand final on 14 Apr.

Thanks to this year’s sponsors, each participant collected a wide spectrum of takeaways, from camaraderie and new friends to fun and premium prizes.
