Exciting twist in countdown event U1000’s eleventh year

In a new twist, SPH Media’s Chinese radio station UFM100.3’s U1000 Music Countdown《U选1000》crowned 20 top songs instead of just one top song, as it categorised the top 1,000 songs into 20 distinct years.

The top songs from every year between 2004 to 2023, which were nominated and voted for by their listeners over the course of three months, include multiple songs from JJ Lin, Jay Chou, and A-Lin as well as favourites from Mayday, Stefanie Sun, Eason Chan, Alien Huang, and Eric Chou. The change transformed the results of the eleventh edition of the countdown, with hidden gems from previous years now getting their moment in the spotlight. 

Over 2,000 fans joined the UFM 100.3 DJs in the announcement of the top songs at the exhilarating grand finale show at the Singapore Sports Hub. The massive sing-along featured the station’s DJs and local artists such as Tay Kewei, Alfred Sim, and UFM100.3’s Radio Singer 2022 Champion Xiao Qiang. 

As each year’s top song was announced, the fans cheered, waved their light sticks, and sang along to the lyrics flashed on stage karaoke-style, adding to the arena's fun and sometimes sentimental atmosphere. The audience also got a kick out of seeing the station DJs - Weilong, Chengyao, Limei, Jiayi, and Qinghong - dressed as singers such as Yu Wen Wen, JJ Lin and Jay Chou, and the characters in the famous movie scene from 我们一起追的女孩 (You Are The Apple Of My Eye).

Creatively executed promotions for sponsors

Beyond the visibility gained by the sponsors throughout the event’s publicity campaign on social media, print, magazines, and online, the station’s DJs also went the extra mile to strategically enhance the promotion of the client’s brand on social media. 

For example, our DJs created videos showcasing their culinary skills, preparing various dishes using Seng Choon eggs, and posting them as Instagram Stories. 

At the event, selected audience members also participated in a fun relay game featuring Seng Choon eggs, which concluded with the teams yelling out the egg company’s slogan, “成春农场,优选鸡蛋,新鲜一生”.

The audience also received goodies from our sponsors. Seng Choon provided gifts such as eggs and calendars. ASA Holidays also gave away return air tickets to Taiwan to participants who answered a simple quiz about UFM100.3, as well as through an Instagram giveaway.
