ICON BALL rolled out red carpet for guests and brand partners to stand out

Events

Homegrown Chinese luxury lifestyle magazine ICON celebrated its 19th anniversary with an evening of opulence at Shangri-La Singapore on 30 April with its glitzy high-society gala event, ICON Ball.

Just as the event’s high-fashion guests embraced the theme “Be Iconic, Dare to Stand Out” with haute couture gowns crafted by both international ateliers and top local designers alike, the event’s partners also put on equally elegant displays to showcase their brand.

French luxury goods brand Cartier laid down its signature red carpet walkway to welcome and greet guests with its Cartier Bell Boys.

Guests twirled and posed for the glambot photobooth while SPH Media Chinese radio station UFM100.3 presenter Andrew Zhan completed the experience with a live red carpet segment, where he interviewed the guests on their outfits for the night. The segment was live streamed via ICON’s Instagram page.

ION Orchard also created another unique experience in conjunction with their 15th anniversary milestone with its photo booth where guests posed and posted their memories on their social media feeds.

BMW Singapore displayed its prestigious luxury SUV, the BMW XM, inside the ballroom, which provided the perfect setting for the most powerful icon the German automaker ever built to date. Delighted guests peered into and posed alongside the XM, which combines performance and bespoke design accents in one sleek package.

Three selected ICON Ball attendees were given the exclusive opportunity to be chauffeured in their choice of BMW model to arrive and depart the event.

Fenjiu International took over one of Shangri-La’s bars to serve a specially concocted cocktail, the ICON Beauty Blossom Cocktail (汾色佳人), which contained its Fen Jiu Qinghua20. Fen Jiu Qinghua20 was also served during the dinner, elegantly displayed on each table and near the bar at the venue.

The event also provided ample networking opportunities for the brands and ICON Ball’s close to 300 guests, which included corporate and social elites and tastemakers.

Celebrating the extraordinary

This year, ICON shone the spotlight on arts and craftsmanship through a new docu-series called “The Icons,” which featured luminaries in photography, music, fashion, and fine art. Among the subjects were fine art photographer and Cultural Medallion winner Chua Soo Bin, photographer Russel Wong, jazz musician Jeremy Monteiro, jazz singer Joanna Dong, fashion designers Lai Chan and Priscilla Shunmugam, as well as artists Lee Hock Moh, and Ling Yang Chang.

Several of these cultural icons, including Chua Soo Bin and Lai Chan, were in attendance, while Joanna Dong dazzled the crowd with a performance of three songs halfway through the dinner.

In keeping with the spirit of the theme, 20 ladies who showcased creative and daring looks were selected as ICON Ball 2024’s best dressed. These include legal consultant Ms Karen Ong-Tan, medical director Dr Iroshini Chua, entrepreneur Ms Kelly Keak, and content creators Ms Willabelle Ong and Ms Mae Tan, who received gifts from luxury shoemaker Roger Vivier.

Icon’s editor-in-chief Sylvester Ng says: “We wanted the theme this year to raise the bar on the extraordinary, celebrate individuality in all its many creative self-expressions and create a truly outstanding gala event bar none.”
