The fourth edition of Shin Min Getai Zichar Night rewarded the title’s readers with another unforgettable getai and dine-together experience with main sponsors SIMBA and MCI, as well as product sponsor Way Fengshui.
Fulfilling its mission of journeying across the heartlands, the event was held in Serangoon on 5 Jan and welcomed 500 guests, the largest crowd across the four editions. This marks a significant increase since the event was first held in Bukit Panjang with 120 participants. The 50 tables were sold out within five days, with the livestream of the event reaching over 40,000 eyeballs in Singapore, Malaysia, and the region.
Auspicious welcome to the upcoming Year of the Dragon
An exhilarating dragon dance kicked off the festive-themed event, followed by a welcome speech from Shin Min Daily News editor Mr Choo Chee Wee, who shared that the enthusiastic response has encouraged them to continue hosting this meaningful event.
Auspicious phrases were tossed about during the lohei, which was led by Mr Choo together with SPH Media Chinese Media Group editor-in-chief Ms Lee Huay Leng and the event’s Guest-of-Honour, Minister for Manpower & Second Minister for Trade and Industry Dr Tan See Leng.
Renowned getai artistes Pei Fen, Hao Hao, the Baobei sisters, and Tian Yue effortlessly entertained the crowd with their singing chops and fun banter. The getai’s emcee Pei Fen also seamlessly weaved in the sponsors’ messages through commercial shoutouts throughout the night’s festivities.
Shin Min editor Mr Choo Chee Wee and Ms Carine Ang, senior program director of SPH Media radio stations UFM100.3 and 96.3好FM joined Pei Fen and Hao Hao in a finale medley of popular Lunar New Year songs, while the God of Fortune gave out red packets to the guests.
