Sponsors actively engage a Chinese-speaking health-conscious audience at Lianhe Zaobao Health Seminar

Events

250 Lianhe Zaobao readers filled the SPH News Centre Auditorium on 30 November for the return of the Lianhe Zaobao Health Seminar, with the theme “联合早报乐活谈保健 2024 早知道,早行动 (Know early, act early; Prevention is better than cure). All the seats were snapped up within days after the registration for the event was launched, reflecting the high demand and strong interest in the event.

Sponsored by wellness partner Ocean Health and medical partners The Hearing Specialist and The Aesthetics Medical Clinic, the seminar effectively bridged the sponsors’ messages to our Chinese-speaking audience.

Opportunities on-ground included health talks conducted by experts from each sponsor and sales booths where they could display featured products and talk to attendees one-on-one.

The event also provided the sponsors extensive coverage through prominent features on Lianhe Zaobao’s print edition, website, digital platforms, and over Chinese radio stations UFM100.3 and 96.3好FM.

Programme tailored to maximise sharing and engagement with the audience

Each sponsor was given a slot for their health talk in the 3-hour programme moderated by Mr Carl Lim, a senior correspondent at Lianhe Zaobao.

Mr Tan Boon Hai, The Hearing Specialist Group’s Principal Audiologist, started the session by sharing insights and the latest findings on hearing-related topics, such as the benefits of early diagnosis and treatment of hearing impairment long-term hearing and cognitive health.

He noted that many attendees came prepared, asking various personal hearing-related questions about hearing loss, tinnitus, otitis media, and effective treatments. “Many people were particularly interested in the AI-powered hearing aids we showcased. Many also signed up for the complimentary ‘one-on-one’ hearing consultation, taking the first important step in addressing their issues.”

Dr Han Fucai, Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at  Ace International Orthopaedic Centre, talked about the facts and myths surrounding degenerative arthritis.

The last talk of the event, presented by Dr Ashley Yuen of The Aesthetics Medical Clinic, focused on new strategies for optimising skin aesthetics in Southeast Asia. Dr Yuen also discussed the unique problems faced by Southeast Asian skin from a medical aesthetics perspective.

Each talk was followed by a Q&A session where the audience posed their questions and shared their medical conditions with the experts. This ranged from questions such as hearing problems that affect them, choosing the right supplements, suitability of knee replacements, and more. The attendees’ active participation underscores the relevance of the topics to them and the value of the insights being shared, further emphasizing the event’s appeal to the audience.

After the seminar, participants eagerly went to the sales booths set up outside the hall to buy health products and actively consulted the representatives about their services.

Ms Pushpa Tulsidas, Director of The Aesthetics Medical Clinic, shared: “This marks our first collaboration with the Lianhe Zaobao Health Seminar, where we had the opportunity to engage with readers and, through Dr. Ashley Yuen’s insightful presentation, introduce key topics in aesthetic treatments. Our goal is to help older adults become more familiar with this evolving field of aesthetic treatments.

She added: “Moreover, participating in seminars organised by Zaobao fosters live interactions between experts and the public, making aesthetic experiences more approachable and accessible.”
