Decode Gen Z with HeyKaki

Features

HeyKaki today launched Gen Z Decodes, an edgy 8-episode Mandarin talk show with English subtitles where Gen Zs discuss their candid views and perspectives about social issues that matter to today’s youths. Shows will be released on the HeyKaki YouTube channel weekly until 8 June. Catch the first episode here.

Lee Hee Ai, Editor of HeyKaki, is excited about this new series. "People might have some stereotypes about Gen Z, but we hope that through this series, viewers can better understand the views of Gen Zs that are shaped by experiences unique to their generation. Gen Zs can also be exposed to the different perspectives that their peers have, making them ponder deeper into these social issues."

Hosted by HeyKaki's own Gen Z content producer Xi Ying (@xixilooklook), the show features Gen Z TikTok influencers including Cavin (@cayydences), Dewy (@dewychoo), Yiting (@lashyoyt), Kai (@pale.nerves), and Jiaxuan (@jiaxuanwithnof). All known to be vocal in their views, some of them opened up and shared very personal and emotional stories for the first time in a public programme, with some tears shed on shoot.

The hot-button issues covered range from money, bullying, toxic parenting, tough growing-up experiences, being influencers, and whether it’s really ok to not be ok in Singapore.

Gen Z Decodes also shares insights into a survey done with 300 youths prior to the show to get a comprehensive spectrum of opinions beyond the program’s guests. Stay tuned!
