F ZINE and The Peak Expand into India, at Exactly the Right Moment

Features

SPH Media brings two of its most established titles to one of the world's fastest-growing markets. Here's why the timing, and the audiences, matter for brands looking outward.

SPH Media, Singapore's trusted national news company, is bringing two of its most storied titles to India. Through a strategic licensing partnership with Ashrayu Media, it will launch localised Indian editions of The Peak, which has chronicled leaders and entrepreneurs since 1984, and F ZINE, the definitive voice of youth culture since 1974. F ZINE India arrives in the final quarter of 2026, with The Peak India to follow soon after.

Beneath India's headline growth sits a shift that matters for brands: two distinct audiences that, together, are coming to define consumer influence in the country. One is a wealth elite expanding faster than almost anywhere. The other is the largest, most influential generation India has ever had. The Peak and F ZINE map onto them almost exactly, which is what makes their timing worth understanding.

Audience one: a fast-growing HNWI segment

India's affluent class is expanding at a pace that reshapes assumptions. The country was home to nearly 390,000 high-net-worth individuals in 2025, holding a combined US$1.64 trillion in wealth, a base that grew even through global market volatility. The ultra-high-net-worth population is forecast to rise around 27 percent by 2031.

What makes this audience distinctive is its character, not just its size. This is new wealth, built by internationally minded entrepreneurs, high-earning millennials, and C-suite decision-makers. They represent a sophisticated audience defined less by conspicuous excess and more by quality, provenance, and meaning. Reaching and engaging this segment becomes less about high-volume visibility and more about high-trust credibility.

That’s where The Peak comes in. Supported by an influential social community that is hitting new heights, the title changes the conversation for luxury and wealth management brands entirely, offering a premium and direct line to today’s business elites.

Audience two: India's main character generation

If wealth is one half of the story, youth is the other. India's Gen Z numbers 377 million, the largest generation in the country, and it is already the dominant engine of consumer spending at roughly 43 percent of it today, climbing to around 47 percent in fashion and lifestyle.

Gen Z also upends conventional marketing. Digital-native, it prioritises authenticity and self-expression over brand loyalty, and discovers products through culture and creators rather than advertising. Brands that treat it as a target to sell to get ignored, while those that engage as cultural participants earn genuine affinity. Reaching this audience is a question of fluency, not frequency.

This is a space where F ZINE has already proven its absolute dominance, driven by an audience where 83 percent of followers belong to Gen Z and Millennial demographics. This is backed by robust multi-channel media ecosystem growth that has accelerated year-on-year.

The right timing

Individually, each audience would justify attention. Together, they explain why India's luxury and lifestyle landscape is being rewritten, and why the arrival of two credible, culturally fluent titles is worth noting. Speaking to both the wealth elite and youth culture requires an editorial voice each audience trusts, without flattening either into cliché. That is the gap The Peak India and F ZINE India are built to fill.

For brands thinking seriously about India, both titles are worth watching closely as they take shape, and there will be early opportunities for partners who want to engage from the outset. More on that in the months ahead.
