Workshop collaboration boosts cybersecurity awareness among seniors

The Challenge

To address the rising need for cybersecurity and scam awareness among seniors, Lianhe Zaobao and Ngee Ann Polytechnic, supported by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), aimed to equip seniors with the tools to safely navigate the digital world. The challenge was to ensure broad participation and engagement in the third season of the Youth Help Seniors Go Digital workshops while making the content accessible and engaging for older audiences.

Our Solution

Following two successful runs, we mounted the third season of Youth Help Seniors Go Digital, which drew over 1,000 attendees across six sessions. 

To drive sign-ups, a strategic multi-platform campaign combined print ads on Lianhe Zaobao and Shin Min Daily News with a sponsored article and educational video on zaobao.sg to amplify the initiative. 

Social media posts across Zaobao’s Facebook, Instagram, and Telegram channels, along with digital ads and editorial banners, boosted visibility. Pre- and post-event coverage in print and digital channels further reinforced the campaign’s reach and impact. 

On-ground, each workshop paired seniors with Ngee Ann Polytechnic students for hands-on digital guidance, while SPH Media’s Chinese Media Group spotlighted the latest online scams and prevention tips. Participants also received a cybersecurity handbook from the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore for continued learning. 

The campaign not only drove strong participation, but it also made cybersecurity awareness and education accessible to seniors, with a lasting impact.
